Horsetooth Rock

We live on a road called Horsetooth,
named for the rock that you can see in the distant foothills from town.
We hiked up to the tooth on the 4th of July with
our friends, Julia and Bruce.

Fort Collins, Colorado and the Horsetooth Reservoir:
The reservoir is flooded over an old mining town, Stout,
that was abandoned in 1949 so that the city could create the water-hold.
Remnants of the town are still at the bottom.
Many of the buildings on Colorado State University's campus
were constructed out of the rock quarried from where the reservoir now lies.
